Nneka Norville sits in the Corporate Communications department at BET Networks as Senior Director of Public Affairs Marketing. A unit of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIA, VIAB), BET is the leading provider of quality entertainment for consumers of Black culture globally. In her role, Norville advances the mission and purpose of the brand by creating marketing communications strategies that connect with key stakeholders including consumers, employees, NGOs and the industry. As such, Norville oversees all facets of internal communications, corporate reputation, employee engagement, philanthropic partnerships, thought leadership initiatives and strategic partnerships.
During her tenure, Nneka has developed and launched award winning corporate initiatives, employee programs, thought leadership events and social impact marketing campaigns. Norville joined BET Networks in 2009 after working at The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation as a Program Officer in the Strategic Partnerships division managing high impact partnerships, both in the US and abroad, including a $20 million partnership and sponsorship portfolio.
An attorney by training, Norville started her career in strategic communications at Robinson, Lerer and Montgomery, a strategic communications firm, where she worked with clients such as Scholastic, The Financial Times and AOL before practicing media law at a boutique firm in New York City. Prior to joining RLM, Norville worked for Dan Klores Communications as Junior Account Executive with clients including Revlon Run Walk, NFL and Yahoo.
Affiliated with a number of professional, civic and cultural organizations, Norville serves on the board of Opportunity Network, is a member of Civic Nation’s Creative Alliance and is a judge in The Real Time Academy for the annual Shorty Awards.
Recognized as a leader in marketing communications strategy, employee engagement, thought leadership and social impact, Norville has received a number of awards for excellence including a 2018 CUP Catalyst Award, 2017 Shorty Social Good Award, 2017 Cynopsis Social Good Awards, The Network Journal Magazine’s 2015 “40 Under Forty Achievers” and 2015 Women in Cable Television (WICT) Rising Leader, to name a few.
Nneka is a graduate of Boston University College of Communications and holds a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School as well as an MPA from Bernard M. Baruch School of Public Affairs as a National Urban Fellow.
